“One Time Too Many” by Phoenix
Early on in college, I listened to this album and song a lot when I was dealing with an omnipresent monster robot known as “depression/anxiety all the time for no reason”. In addition to the fact that this tune was just exceedingly pleasant, I really connected with the line “Always trying to fall asleep to make my way out”, as sleeping was something I did a lot at that time (those who have been through it know that sleeping is the best refuge to avoid doing or dealing with anything else).
Whenever I wanted to go to sleep at a time I shouldn’t want to go to sleep, I made myself consider that lyric and really concentrate on it — usually, that resulted in me forcing myself to stay awake and stimulate my brain in some constructive way.
Anyway, my brain and Phoenix both only got better from there, so I’m crediting this album as a launchpad for both.
